Newport’s RE:MAKE Repair Cafe launches ‘Fix It Feb’ to promote repair over replacement, saving money and supporting sustainability.

Newport people can pledge to fix something. You’ll save money and support local sustainability. Sew a button or fix a favorite item.
RE:MAKE saved Newport people £150,000 since they opened in 2021. RE:MAKE helps Repair Cafe Wales’ goal. They want to fix 1,000 things in Wales, which is like taking 360,000 car miles off roads. Repair events happen across Wales monthly.
Volunteers fix things with their skills and tools. They mend electrics, clothes, phones, and bikes. They also fix small furniture pieces.
Repair Café Wales has saved £1 million and repaired more than 21,000 items. “Fix it Feb” wants to expand that impact.
The goal is to get people fixing even more. That reduces the need for new products, helps save resources, and cut carbon use. People can save money as well, and repairing can be easy and feel good. Small acts can greatly help the environment. RE:MAKE offers free repairs in Newport and also rents tools for a small fee.
