Report Sought on Leisure Centre Sewage Flood in Craigavon
Tinsley brought this up at a recent ABC meeting. She had also asked about it on February 10. This happened at a Community & Wellbeing meeting.
She mentioned an email about squash courts and plumbing. She asked if they checked the plumbing. She wants to prevent future problems. Tinsley wondered if they contacted the contractor. Is it under guarantee?
Can they claim for the repairs? Is the center paying, or is the contractor? She cares about the whole leisure center’s plumbing. Staff and users should not face these issues. She also noted toilet flushing problems.
Can they check this during the audit? Is it part of the center’s plumbing problems? It’s a new center, so these issues are surprising. She said it’s not the staff’s fault. It’s about the original plumbing setup.
Keith Haughian thought it should be discussed later. He asked Darryn Causby for a quick response. Causby said they will review Tinsley’s requests. They will then provide a more complete response.
Causby mentioned they are working with the Estates and Maintenance teams. They are talking to the original contractor too. He said they are still working on it. He also thanked staff who handled the issue.
The storm delayed finding it. Staff tried to save the floor. But the water had been leaking for too long.
Tinsley reminded officers she still needs information. This happened at the February 24 ABC meeting. She was told officers would check the issues. They would talk to the contractor.
They promised a full response to members. She asked where they would present the response. Paul Tamati said they hope to present it in March. It will likely be at the Community & Wellbeing meeting. They are gathering information with the Estates team. They aim to meet that deadline.
