A company wants to host events near homes. This firm runs clubs like Printworks. They want to use a former warehouse, the Deptford Storehouse.

Spaces & Stories asked the council for permission. They seek a license to serve alcohol from 8 AM to 10:30 PM, six days a week. Up to 500 people might attend.

Some locals are not happy about it. One resident thinks 500 people are too many and worries about increased crime and potential harm to residents. Another resident also objects strongly, fearing awful noise that might really upset the local people.

Broadwick Group changed their initial plan. Originally, they wanted music events for thousands, but they dropped live music plans and lowered capacity to 500. The council licensing team then dropped their objection.

But the police still object to the venue. They think it will worsen crime, as the area already has high crime rates and people leaving late could become victims.

The company says they create safe, creative spaces. They have a noise management plan to prevent disturbances and claim alcohol is not their main focus.

The council will soon decide on the request. The Deptford Storehouse has homes nearby. An image shows the location clearly.
