Locals fear traffic, flooding, and damage to a Roman fort due to new housing developments in Penpedairheol.

LDPs guide how councils use land. Caerphilly plans a new LDP now. It will show where building might happen. The plan includes land near Gwaun Fro. Two Plaid Cymru councillors think it’s a bad spot.
Judith Pritchard spoke after the meeting. She said Rhos Farm might get 200 homes. That’s 300 to 400 extra cars on Gwaun Fro. Traffic already jams the B4254, she noted. Pengam’s bridge and lights cause delays.
Haydn Pritchard shared another worry. Rhos Farm could flood. Sinkholes and mining also pose risks. People mentioned a Roman fort nearby. They fear damage to the site. They are also concerned about local wildlife.
The two councillors arranged the meeting. An Senedd Member and another councillor went. People at the meeting learned more details. There might be building on Pengam Road, too. It’s between Bryn Siriol and Pengam Station.
Plaid said more homes cause more traffic. Locals worry roads can’t handle it. The party wants residents to share their thoughts. They should comment on the LDP suggestions. You can find details on the council website.
