Up to 51 new social homes are planned for Rhosddu in Wrexham after approval to demolish Greenacres.

Greenacres was not used enough, according to an office review. Social care staff moved already and now work in the city center. Demolition should start soon, which makes way for housing.
They previously demolished the Old Vicarage about two years ago. Social housing plans began in 2022. The site is near the city center, which makes it good for housing.
The project has been planned for years, and both the Vicarage and Greenacres will change into new social housing. It is a large project for the council and addresses the need for more homes.
The council will choose a partner who designs and builds the homes. They need planning permission first. Councilor Bithell spoke about the project and mentioned the great location with shops close to the site.
Demolition work starts very soon. The council will discuss building plans. The Cunliffe Centre stays where it is and serves adults with day care, but they need to find another location later.
