Craig McDermid, 55, of Rhyl, jailed 15 months for leaving a disturbing note for a child at a Flintshire bus stop.

Myles Wilson said this happened last May. It occurred at a bus stop in Flintshire. The girl saw a red car there before. She thought someone in the car filmed her once. The car left after she boarded her bus.
One morning, she saw the red car again. This time, she found a note. It said, “lift your skirt up”. The girl called her father right away. He arrived and confronted the man. The man denied it and drove away quickly.
Police traced the car to McDermid. They arrested him soon after. CCTV footage showed him dropping off the note.
The girl said she felt anxious and confused. She’s now scared to walk alone anywhere. She worries McDermid is “out there” somewhere. She’s also worried about her friends. She does not want this to happen to them.
Her father said he felt extreme anger. The incident troubled him greatly.
McDermid was previously convicted in 2000 for indecently assaulting a young girl on a bus. He also broke rules for sex offenders back in 2004.
Sarah Yates defended McDermid, saying he had not offended since 2005. She wanted probation to help him, stating he needs treatment, not jail.
Judge Simon Mills sentenced McDermid to 15 months in prison. He was not convinced he could be helped. He must register as a sex offender for 10 years and received a sexual harm prevention order.
