Runcorn: Expressway closure after a truck crash. No injuries reported, but expect delays due to ongoing road repairs.
Thankfully, no one got hurt. However, the road got damaged, and the northbound side is still closed because of this. They put a detour in place for drivers, and expect more traffic now, with trips taking longer, too.
Police got a call about the crash on the Runcorn expressway. Officers found an overturned truck there, but again, nobody was hurt. The road’s damage forced its closure, and police handed it to highways at 6:20 PM.
The road stayed closed all night long. Someone from Mersey Gateway spoke, saying the road had serious damage. It’s still closed as of 10:30 AM on February 21st, and they don’t know when it will reopen.
The expressway to Weston Link stays shut for urgent road repairs. The detour makes traffic worse, so add extra time to your travel plans. They said they regret the problems and will share more updates later.
