Hey, check this out! Someone wants to fix up an old church. It’s in Munlochy, at Knockbain Parish Church. The plan involves turning it into a cool space; think design studio, shop, and even a café.

The guy wants to keep the outside looking pretty much the same while fixing the inside to make it work. The problem? The road is super dangerous, with poor visibility when pulling out.

The council is worried about the poor visibility on the road, citing it as a safety issue due to cars zooming by way too fast. The developer had hoped for more police to slow people down.

Council said no way, stating it’s not their job to make speeding plans work. They said speeds need to drop before approving the plan because the road feels rural, encouraging speeding.

They worry the café will make traffic way worse, adding more daily trips and increasing the danger. They even did some tests on how far you could see.

You could only see 15 meters one way, and a measly eight meters the other way. Cars were going almost 40 mph in one direction, and over 34 mph the other way.

At that speed, you need to see 90 meters! The council still wants a solution, though, suggesting traffic calming measures to slow cars, which could improve the visibility enough for approval.
