Robert Trigg Case Killer’s Crimes Focus of Channel 5 Documentary

Robert Trigg is an ex-chef. He was found guilty of killing two partners, and police had warned and charged him before. His crimes will be shown on Channel 5 as part of “A Killer Makes a Call.”

Robert Trigg lived in Worthing, West Sussex. His victims, Caroline Devlin and Susan Nicholson, lived there too. He was known to be violent, and Trigg even called the police himself once.

He feared he might kill his ex, Susan Holland, and told police to arrest him. In 2016, he was jailed for attacking Caroline Yardwood, who worked at a charity shop.

Trigg met Caroline in 2003, and their relationship quickly became violent. Caroline told a friend she feared dying before 40 and asked a friend to care for her kids. On Mother’s Day in 2006, Caroline’s daughter, aged ten, found her dead. Her death was first ruled an aneurysm.

Trigg started dating Susan in 2010 after meeting at a rehab course, and their relationship turned violent as well. Police cautioned Trigg for hitting Susan in 2011. He then made a strange call to his neighbor, saying, “It’s Sue, I think she’s dead,” and left to buy cigarettes. The neighbor called the police following this.

Susan’s parents thought Trigg killed her, but he said she died in her sleep. Trigg claimed Susan’s death was an accident, saying he rolled onto her at night. The prosecutor described Trigg’s possessive behavior, stating violence marked both relationships. In 2017, Trigg was convicted for Caroline’s manslaughter and Susan’s murder and got life in prison with a minimum of 25 years. He quoted Isaiah as he went to jail.

The judge praised Susan’s family. They fought for the case to reopen because they believed her death was suspicious. Police initially deemed it accidental.

Channel 5 will show Trigg’s story on “A Killer Makes a Call.” The show covers cases where killers call police, and it airs March 4, 2025, at 10pm.
