Robina Hill, managing director of Loomes of Stamford watchmakers, has died at 62. She was a well-loved figure in Stamford.

Robina taught, worked in arts, and managed a business. She worked at St George’s Primary School and also led youth theatre at Stamford Arts Centre. Robina taught at Stamford College, too.
With her husband Robert, she ran Loomes of Stamford, where they made watches by hand and restored old items. They fixed clocks, furniture, and watches.
She grew up in West Kirby and studied history at Hull University. Robina also went to drama school in London and trained to be a teacher in Hull.
She modeled in Ibiza and then directed drama in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1991, she met Robert in La Paz, Bolivia. It was a quick romance.
Robert said Robina was very direct. She moved in with him after her job abroad, and they married in 1993. They moved to Stamford, which was between London and Yorkshire.
They worked without getting in each other’s way. They had meetings like regular coworkers would, and their business partnership lasted thirty years.
Robina loved their job; she said that it was where art met science. She made everything fun, turning work into something enjoyable.
She would suggest trade shows or trips to London and was always laughing. Robina was chatting with friends until the day before she died.
Robina volunteered at the Stamford Visitor Centre. She helped welcome people arriving by bus, and colleagues found Robina lively and wonderful.
People will miss her, as she was a wonderful character. Volunteers held a moment of silence for her as Robina loved animals, especially horses.
Her dog, Cerys, and cat, Glenda, were with her when she died. Robert had cancer, but Robina passed away first, as she didn’t want to stay in the hospital.
She wanted her last days to be comfortable, and her wishes were respected. The funeral will be held on March 12 in Stamford.
