Rockfish opens in Lyme Regis after The Oyster and Fish House closes. Spot to honor previous owner.

Mitch Tonks founded Rockfish and has fond memories of Lyme Regis, recalling fishing trips and crab lunches there. He feels excited to bring Rockfish to the town.
Tonks considers Mark Hix a good friend, as they both love quality seafood. Continuing the site’s legacy feels appropriate and a natural step for Rockfish.
Rockfish will include a special “Hixy seat” at the bar, welcoming Mark anytime. This gesture reflects their friendship and shared passion for seafood.
The Oyster and Fish House closed in December 2024. The new menu will highlight Lyme Bay mussels, widely celebrated for their great taste.
Rockfish will offer other seafood options, emphasizing sustainable, seasonal fish and shellfish. Staff will help people discover new tastes and showcase the best local catches.
It will also feature an online fish market where people can order fresh seafood sourced from Brixham Fish Market, with next-day delivery available. Tonks aims to offer something special.
The overall goal involves creating a dining spot deeply connected to the town. Supporting Lyme Regis charities and groups also matters significantly.
The new restaurant will additionally generate local jobs.
