A local shop on Victoria Road wants to build more space. It’s a small grocery and convenience store run by a family. They asked Havering Council for permission to do this.

R&R Planning sent the request for the shop. The plan includes a metal frame with a cover that slides open. This will give the store extra space for shoppers.

Other shops in Havering did similar things before. The sliding cover will go in front of the store. Near By Cash & Carry is the shop’s name as of October 2024.

The cover will take up two parking spots near the road. It will keep the sun and rain off items and people. The new area will stay within the parking spaces.

It won’t block the sidewalk for people walking. The shop has a parking lot in the back for workers and customers. So, losing two spots won’t be a big problem.

They might also add wood decking with a covering. Drawings show fruits and veggies on shelves under the cover. If the council says yes, work starts in March. It should all be done by May this year.
