Ronan Keating voices distress after lenient sentence in brother’s fatal car crash case in County Mayo, Ireland.

Ciaran Keating died in a car crash caused by Harte in County Mayo near Swinford in July 2023. Ciaran was with his wife, Annmarie, going to their son’s soccer game.
Annmarie suffered serious injuries and could not attend Ciaran’s funeral. Harte drove onto the wrong side of the road and crashed head-on into Ciaran’s car at Ballymiles. Ciaran died at the scene.
Ronan Keating criticized the justice system online, feeling the outcome explains road deaths in Ireland. He called the system “broken,” saying a man can kill someone and walk free. Ronan believes the family will never find peace.
Harte admitted to careless driving causing death and serious injury. The judge banned Harte from driving for two years. Judge Garavan cited no proof of intoxication, speeding, or dangerous driving beforehand.
The court heard Harte sent a WhatsApp message earlier. Traces of cannabis were in Harte’s blood.
