Swindon’s Rose and Crown is a finalist for PubAid’s Community Pub Hero Awards, recognized for its community support.

The Rose and Crown was picked from almost 700 pubs nationwide, recognized as a key spot for the local area. Twice a week, it runs a post office, and a barber visits once a month. They also have salsa and makeup classes at this pub.
Men’s breakfasts and mental health talks take place there. The pub hosts social events often, with a quiz, music, and a history group each month. A car club, PTA meetings, and coffee mornings all occur there too. Their choir has over sixty members!
Holly said they are excited to reach the finals and believes everyone who visits becomes family. The whole team shares this belief, so she thanked everyone for their support. This includes people who dine, dance, drink, sing, or stay there and said they are the true heroes.
The awards ceremony is on March 4 at Parliament. Matthew Clark sponsors the event, and shortlisted pubs, leaders, and MPs will be there. Des O’Flanagan, from PubAid, launched the awards to celebrate pubs’ community work.
He says The Rose and Crown shows how pubs help communities. The amount of entries was very impressive this year, and O’Flanagan said publicans do amazing work across the country. Getting to the finals is a great honor.
PubAid organizes the award with others and added award categories. This helps them congratulate more community pubs, and there are 33 finalists across five different award sections.
