King Charles and Queen Camilla are visiting Middlesbrough! Preparations are in full swing for their visit to Centre Square.

This visit is special. A Head of State hasn’t been in Middlesbrough since 1993! Queen Elizabeth II visited then. Charles and Camilla will walk through the square. They will meet local leaders.
Preparations are underway. New pictures show tents being set up. This is happening in the town center.
Metal fences are on the ground. They will likely separate the royals from people. Lorries carried portable toilets, too. Good planning, right?
This is Charles’ first visit to the North East as King. He last visited the area in April 2022. He went to Bishop Auckland and Barnard Castle. This was before his coronation.
The visit comes after Charles’ cancer diagnosis. He postponed public events for a bit. Camilla visited RAF Leeming last September. It’s in North Yorkshire. She was doing an RAF base tour.
Mike McGrother will lead performances. Musicians will play songs celebrating Middlesbrough. His choir and band will perform. The performances are in three parts. Organizers call them “Erimus”, “Infant Hercules” and “Infinite Hercules”.
Middlesbrough Council and Teesside University planned an event. It will entertain crowds before the royal arrival.
