Runcorn benefits from a £23.6 million investment in ‘Reconnecting Runcorn’, offering apprenticeships to boost youth employment.

The goal is to help locals thrive, and more opportunities should boost the town’s economy. Young people are getting chances through apprenticeships, while a group called PIP is helping them get involved.
PIP supports those aged 16 to 24. They gain skills and find jobs, and several projects offer apprenticeship roles. These include the Youthy.com center and Brindley Enhancement.
Two guys, Matty and Danny, started working at 57-59 High Street. Warden Contractors is their employer, and they trained in safety first. PIP helped them get certified.
Matty has been with PIP for eight years. He started with Halton Housing Trust gaining skills and qualifications over time. He’s now got a full-time job!
Matty feels more confident now, as the apprenticeship helped him a lot. He said the Warden’s managers supported him, and he learned different trades and skills.
Danny is only sixteen years old. He attends a PIP youth club, and he also volunteers at football games learning teamwork and communication skills. He likes helping build the youth center.
The youth center will be a safe space allowing young people to learn. Even more apprentices will join the program soon, and they will help enhance The Brindley too.
