A woman collided with a vehicle that was pulling a trailer near an auction mart’s entrance on Main Street, High Bentham, North Yorkshire around 10:15 a.m.

Police shared the tragic news that a 74-year-old local woman died at the scene, despite emergency services’ efforts to help her. The police are providing support to her family and continuing their investigation into the accident.

A 48-year-old man from Ryedale was arrested. He was driving a red Scania HGV with a livestock trailer attached. Police suspect careless driving caused death. He was questioned and subsequently released while the investigation continues.

The collision site was closed, and local diversions were put in place. It reopened around 7 p.m. Police are seeking public assistance to understand the circumstances of the incident.
