Councillor Annie Riddle discusses the reopening of Salisbury City Hall with MECA as the new operator.

She used the City Hall a lot. This was over the last 30 years. Her kids grew up with events there. She went with her husband, too.
Salisbury has a good theatre. There’s also the Arts Centre. Musical events happen at the Cathedral. The City Hall needs to be for everyone.
MECA cannot share plans yet. Contracts must get signed first. They said they are the tenant. MECA will speak later.
The councillor hopes they brighten it. She said it looks drab now. It was always magnolia inside. It could look much better.
The journal wants to cover its reopening. She saw great comedians there before. Bill Bailey was the best one. It is good to see stars up close.
Big venues put them far away. This venue size is good. Comedians can test acts there. Pink Floyd Experience may play there.
It is listed for October 11, 2025. Tickets aren’t available yet though. This is two years after closing. It was an NHS vaccination site back then.
The council found an estate agent. They then found the new tenant, MECA. The councillor thinks the council supports it now. Salisbury people want it back. They had much fun there, she said.
She is glad they found someone. It will not be easy, though. Acts must be booked months ahead. She wishes them well.
