The Salisbury Journal is a finalist for Local Weekly Newspaper of the Year, celebrated for its coverage of local events.

The Salisbury Journal got a nomination for Local Weekly Newspaper of the Year. The newspaper covered many stories in 2024, including illegal vapes, flooding, Fisherton Street’s reopening, and the River Park Project’s completion.
Christine Stock and Benjamin Paessler create the paper weekly. Isabella Holliday, Tom Leaman, and Isaac Maddock wrote stories, while Sophie Day helped with reporting, using AI.
Spencer Mulholland takes photos for the paper, capturing city events and front-page images. The Salisbury Journal Camera Club also provides pictures.
Other nominees for the award include the Isle of Wight County Press, the New Milton Advertiser, Lymington Times, The Impartial Reporter, and The Oxford Times. The Cambridge Independent also received a nomination.
The Newspaper Awards focus on print excellence. Newspaper print is decreasing, but it remains important as it supports the financial health of news media.
Printed newspapers will change and keep publishing, existing beside digital versions. The 2025 awards will focus on innovation in newspapers, recognizing employee skill in printed publications. The awards will be on April 2 in London.
