Salisbury Radio plans return to City Hall studios, once home to Spire FM, aiming to broadcast live and serve the community.

Salisbury Radio wants to start live reporting soon. They talked with Justin Britchford, MECA’s owner. Andy said they have a verbal agreement that allows them to bring commercial radio back to City Hall.
Salisbury only ever had one station there. It started in the City Hall studios. They want to be central to the community, which Andy feels is better than meeting in cafes. Plus, people can come in for prizes.
MECA hasn’t signed contracts yet, making it a verbal agreement. The Journal confirms MECA will take over.
The radio team will gain a dedicated workspace as currently, they work remotely. In 2020, Spire FM became Greatest Hits Radio, similar to how other local stations changed.
The radio show comes from Bristol, a regional base. Andy thinks Salisbury is isolated. BBC and ITV rarely cover Salisbury news.
Swindon people also don’t come for news. Local organizations matter a lot because they represent Salisbury residents. Andy feels it’s important to serve the city.
Justin was open to their return, as he knew a radio station wanted to come back. They talked for ninety minutes. Justin wants to help the community and improve things.
Also, he knows not everything makes money. Andy said they are eager to return quickly.
