Somerset author Justin Newland signs books in Salisbury Feb 22. Includes historical thrillers set in Elizabethan England.

Hey, guess what’s happening? Justin Newland will be in Salisbury launching his book, The Midnight of Eights. It’s at WH Smith on February 22, Saturday.
The book tells a secret history, covering England’s growth during the Elizabethan years. The story ends with key coincidences that helped England defeat the Spanish Armada. Justin will be at The Old George Mall store from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
He will sign The Midnight of Eights and other books. These include crime novel The Mark of the Salamander and historical thrillers such as The Genes of Isis, The Old Dragon’s Head, The Coronation, and The Abdication.
His books mix history and adventure, also including magic and fantasy elements. The Genes of Isis, his first book, is set in ancient Egypt. The Old Dragon’s Head takes place in China near The Great Wall during the Ming Dynasty.
The Coronation is based in the Enlightenment and imagines the start of the Industrial Revolution. The Abdication tells a mystery involving a woman facing a faith crisis.
The Mark of the Salamander starts The Island of Angels series. Its story is during the Elizabethan era, with England’s coming of age as the theme. The Midnight of Eights is next in the series, detailing coincidences leading to the Armada’s defeat.
He is currently writing The Spirit of the Times. It explores tough events in the 1300s on the Silk Road, including Genghis Khan and The Black Plague. A nursery rhyme adds to the mystery.
