Samuel Morrow attacked two people in Saltcoats. He stole their things and ran. This happened at a flat they were both staying in. The victims were watching TV when Morrow came in. They did not know why he was there.

He started picking up items, demanding Pregabalin from them. He thought they were hiding it and also wanted money for alcohol. Morrow left, but returned with a golf club he found in the flat.

He hit one man in the face with the club, causing him to feel dizzy and fall. The other man tried to help, but Morrow hit him too. The victims were injured after the attack and Morrow took a bank card and two phones as he left.

Police arrived the next day to find blood in the flat. The men had injuries, but did not need hospital care. CCTV from nearby captured the incident. Officers identified Morrow as the attacker.

Police arrested Morrow on another issue and found the stolen items on him. He claimed the victims were alcoholics he gave drugs to. The court heard about Morrow’s alcohol and mental health issues, and his lawyer hoped for improvement.

The Judge acknowledged the crimes met the jail threshold, but decided to give him a chance. Morrow received supervision for 18 months and must complete alcohol treatment along with 250 hours of work.

Morrow also faced sentencing for another case where he caused his ex-partner fear and alarm. He pursued her, loitered outside, and repeatedly called her between September and June.

They had been apart for eight years when she heard Morrow shouting her name in Stevenston. He followed her as she walked away until she ran into a barber shop crying and he yelled about his kids outside.

Morrow tried to call her multiple times during 2024, prompting her to contact the police. The court postponed sentencing until later this year, and issued a two-year order that Morrow can’t contact her.
