Denzil Meyrick, bestselling author of the DCI Daley crime series, has passed away. He was known for his gripping plots.

Meyrick created detective Jim Daley, who worked in Kinloch, Scotland. Brian Scott was Jim’s sidekick. Meyrick used his police experience from Strathclyde before writing.
The author died peacefully at his home in Loch Lomond. His publisher shared this news.
Birlinn, a Scottish publisher, praised Meyrick. They called him a top crime writer who expertly described Glasgow life and rural Scotland. Many readers loved this skill.
Meyrick had great humor and determination. He created memorable detectives and criminals. He brought the DCI Daley series to Birlinn in 2014. After eleven books, he moved to Transworld.
Birlinn’s team will remember Meyrick fondly. They considered him a friend and unique, and send thoughts to his wife, Fiona.
Meyrick studied politics and was also a journalist and company director. His DCI Daley series was very successful, with every book hitting number one on Audible’s UK audiobook chart.
Whisky from Small Glasses started the Daley series. Waterstones named it Scottish Book of the Year in 2015, and it remains a bestseller now.
His agent, Jo Bell, remembers Meyrick fondly, calling him a true storyteller and a wonderful husband and friend.
