Boy Scouts downsize, ending a century-long tie to their Glasgow townhouse, now up for sale.

Their lease ends next year; they will move out then. A spokesperson confirmed their intention to downsize. Clyde Scouts don’t own the Elmbank Street building anymore. They used to own it, actually, but sold up sometime ago.
Shepherd Chartered Surveyors are handling this current sale. The townhouse is quite large, it’s over six thousand square feet. It has a basement, ground floor, and two upper floors. A rear extension exists, built later on.
Inside, space is used for office, retail, and storage. Rent is twenty thousand pounds yearly, so it’s valuable. Plans exist to change it into five homes. The rear extension got extra floors in the sixties.
People renovated the building thoroughly in 2017. They fixed the roof, stonework, and painted everything. One surveyor said townhouses are selling well lately. This building has permission for five new houses.
Nearby areas? They’re being redeveloped quite a lot. Near this building, people will turn a school into a hotel. It will be a five-star hotel for weddings!
Behind it, they plan many apartments for students. Also nearby, another development is planned. They want 321 student studio apartments there. That building should open by summer 2026.
