A coastal search involving Police Scotland, Coastguard, and RNLI Thurso successfully located a person after cries for help were heard.

The Coastguard sent a helicopter from Inverness, while police searched the area on land. Thurso RNLI sent their lifeboat at 9:50 PM. The crew used special search lights.
The lifeboat crew stopped searching at 11 PM. Police found a person in the area. Police Scotland needs to explain what occurred; we still don’t know if anyone got hurt there.
Thurso RNLI said they got a call that reported cries from behind Millers Place, which slopes down toward Scrabster beach. They launched the lifeboat quickly after they got the call for action.
The RNLI team used their inflatable Y boat and have crew trained in casualty care. Coastguard teams and police were already searching on land using lights and binoculars.
The Coastguard helicopter also helped search. At 11 PM, the search stopped, and police found someone there. The lifeboat went back to Scrabster, ready for service at 11:30 PM.
Thurso RNLI practiced using the Y boat and trained with the search lights and thermal binoculars. This training was very important to help locate the person.
