Seven men appeared in court facing violent disorder charges after fights in Blackwood and Newbridge.

Newport Magistrates’ Court heard about the case. The fight involved a “turf war” between barbers planning a shop in Newbridge. Gwent Police got a call on February 13th about Blackwood High Street. Ten minutes later, they received another call concerning Newbridge High Street.
Around sixteen people had injuries, including one person with a stab wound. Bave Hamed, Shahab Husseini, and Sardam Ebrahimi face charges, as do Bryar Muradi, Alan Karimi, and Adnan Mohamad. Krmanj Sadiq also faces the same charge.
The court denied bail to all seven men, who all plan to plead not guilty. All seven will stay in custody until March 17, when they will appear in crown court.
Police say another man, also arrested for violent disorder, is still in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police ask for information from the public.

Superintendent Michael Preston stated that this was an isolated incident with no link to past issues. He thanked the community for its support and affirmed the police are committed to safety, stating that violent disorder will not be tolerated.
