A 48-year-old man gets seven years for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in West Lothian and indefinite order.

Wayne Phillipson was found guilty at the High Court in Livingston on August 21, 2024. He was sentenced in Glasgow on February 21, 2025. He’s also on a sex offenders register forever.
Detective Inspector Craig Higgins, who works at the Child and Adult Protection Unit, commented that Phillipson was a dangerous predator. He said the girl faced a terrible ordeal and that now Phillipson faces consequences.
Higgins praised the girl’s strength in reporting the crime and helping in court. He hopes this brings closure for her family so they can now move forward.
He urged anyone who has suffered abuse to report it, no matter when it happened. All reports receive a full investigation, with trained officers and partners offering support.
