Police addressed shoplifting in High Wycombe, which occurred between November and December 2024. Police engaged in over 90 talks with businesses, focusing on items stolen from shops. As a result of these efforts, 40 people were arrested.

Of those arrested, thirty-five now face charges. These figures followed shop complaints about the impact of shoplifting. Both national and local shops in High Wycombe voiced their concerns.

The toy shop invested in security measures, purchasing tags and cameras to deter thieves. The shop will close in March, but this is due to a lack of trade unrelated to shoplifting.

Police stated their commitment to fighting shoplifting and retail crime in the town. Officers are currently working on Operation Hatchet and meeting with other groups. The goal is to prevent crime in the town center.

Last year, funding from the Home Office significantly enhanced their work. Officers patrolled for 207 hours in the town center and conducted 30 stop searches during this time.

Officers issued four warnings to e-scooter riders and also collaborate with many local groups.These groups assist in identifying individuals involved in theft. The council and CCTV teams are particularly helpful.

Police recognize the harm this crime inflicts on retail workers. They continue to collaborate with retail partners, including the High Wycombe BID, aiming to gather information on these thefts.

The force utilizes the Thames Valley strategy, working closely with the Crime Commissioner. They address retail crime through various methods, enforcing laws, preventing crime, and gathering data.
