A man found a military-grade bullet casing in a bag of pecans purchased from Lidl near Stoke-on-Trent.

He bought the pecans from Lidl some months back. The store was near Stoke-on-Trent. He noticed the bag felt heavy, but he did not think much about it then.
Richard told the Sun about his find. He thought there was an extra shell, and said it was really “nuts.” The brass casing had “Frontier 223” on it.
Hornady, an American company, makes this cartridge. They are located in Nebraska. Rifles use this military-grade ammunition. This includes semi-automatic weapons, like the AR-15. People use it for target shooting and hunting.
Richard lives in Cheshire, and works as an electronics engineer. Richard then searched online for answers. He posted about it on Reddit. Users thought it got picked up during harvesting.
Someone suggested it looked like a pecan, and probably passed through checks. Another person said it is used in many firearms. They also mentioned pecans are from the US and Mexico.
The USA makes eighty percent of the world’s pecans. Georgia, New Mexico, and Texas grow most of them. America harvested over 126 million pecans in 2022, and over a quarter gets exported.
Many households in those states own guns. Richard has two sons, Alex and Leo. He thinks a stray casing got picked up if they collected pecans on the ground.
Lidl will investigate what happened. They asked Richard to send the casing to them. Their quality assurance team will look into it.
Lidl stated they were sorry. They want customers to have a good experience. They work closely with suppliers to ensure safety, and stated they have not received similar reports.
