Shropshire Council will fix roads near Oswestry next summer. The council wants to improve roads in the county. This work is part of their 2025 program.

Some roads will close temporarily, and other spots will have traffic control. The council needs to work safely, which means slowing things down sometimes.

Work starts in May 2025. They plan to fix 41 places all over the county, including city streets and big roads.

Dan Morris spoke about the road work, saying it helps prevent potholes. Stopping potholes is important to the council, as it avoids issues next winter.

Many roads are scheduled for this treatment. The A495 near Porth-Y-Waen is one, and the B4398 near Maesbrook is also listed. We can’t forget the B4396 near Knockin, and the B5009 near Whittington needs help too.

Surface dressing fixes roads by putting stones on a sticky layer. This stops potholes, makes roads safe, and also keeps water out.

This is a big part of yearly road work, which they plan to complete with other repairs. They handle both planned and surprise issues.

Most road closures will be short, lasting only a few hours. It is unlikely a closure will last over one day. They will post signs before closing roads, appearing weeks before work starts so you will know when closures happen.
