Shwaib Ahmed received a 14-month jail sentence for dangerous driving following a high-speed police chase in Bradford.

Police saw Ahmed’s Kia circling on Sunbridge Road, becoming suspicious of the 28-year-old. Police used their blue lights to signal him to stop. Ahmed sped off instead of stopping for them. He drove at 70 mph where the limit was 30 or 40 mph.
The 15-minute chase went through Manningham and into Frizinghall, toward Forster Square. The roads had little traffic during this early hour. Police told colleagues to use a stinger device.
Ahmed sped past parked cars and drove through narrow streets. He ran red lights and drove on the wrong side. The stinger punctured two of Ahmed’s tires.
Police stopped Ahmed near Forster Square and then arrested him. He gave “no comment” answers during questioning. Ahmed had prior convictions, including robbery and drug trafficking, and three dangerous driving convictions.
He got a 12-month sentence for dangerous driving last year, with that offense happening three months after this incident. His lawyer said Ahmed faced more prison time. A judge jailed Ahmed for 14 months total.
The judge called his driving “horrific” during that chase and said Ahmed didn’t care about other road users. He ignored traffic laws on purpose. Luckily, nobody got hurt.
The judge gave twelve months for dangerous driving and added two months for driving while disqualified. Ahmed’s driving ban is for two years and seven months. He must retake an extended driving test, and his license was also marked.
