The ambulance service is holding an event as part of a February knife crime awareness push. The event is on February 19, where they will teach young people what to do if someone is stabbed.

This comes after many knife crimes nationwide. The Ben Kinsella Trust reported over 50,000 incidents last year. Slough and Langley want to help kids because these areas have seen higher crime rates.

SCAS works with groups like Together as One, a Slough charity that fights gang crime. They also work with Slough Borough Council’s youth team and the Slough Youth Parliament.

Thames Valley Police is also involved in this effort. They want to show the dangers of knives and improve police relationships.

Councillor Ishrat Shah is glad this event is happening during half-term because it will keep young people busy with fun stuff. They’ll learn first aid for stabbings, and CPR skills will also be taught.

Langley had fatal knife crimes before, so educating young people is very important now. Young people can talk to the youth team if issues arise, and they can also report crimes to police or Crimestoppers.

Mark Ainsworth-Smith said knife crime deaths are tragic, causing families and friends to suffer greatly. Emergency responders deal with tough consequences, and their work has big emotional impacts.

The event is for those aged 11 to 18, although people up to age 25 with special needs can attend. They will learn first aid and can participate in sports and creative stuff, too.

The event is at Kedermister Hall in Langley, running from 2 PM to 5 PM. SCAS hopes this helps prevent future knife crimes.
