A woman had been shot. Emergency services tried to help her, but sadly, she died there.
The police haven’t formally named her yet. They said her name was Lisa Smith. She was from Slough.
A murder investigation started right away. Police search the River Thames, as they think the suspect fell from a bridge. The bridge is the Queen Elizabeth II.
They found a car and a gun near the Dartford Crossing. These items are linked to the suspect. He was seen on the wrong side of the bridge and police are searching the water for him. It is unknown if the gun was legal.
The pub landlady is Michelle Thomas. She said people screamed and cried when they realized what happened. She heard loud bangs and thought they were fireworks, as this happened as she prepped for dinner.
About fifty people were there that night. Thirty people wanted dinner and twenty more were in the bar. The shooting was just after 7 PM, as people sat down to eat. An off-duty firearms officer helped out and he got things under control quickly.
The landlady said the victim visited before, but she wasn’t a regular. Police said the victim knew the suspect and there was no prior contact with police. This includes both the victim and suspect.
