Together Housing seeks approval for 39 affordable homes at Field Lane estate. The plan includes park upgrades.

Made It Together, acting for Together Housing, has requested permission from Calderdale Council for new homes and park upgrades. Thornton recreation ground is included in the planned improvements.
Homes England may provide funding, as indicated in the application statements. The estate has already seen significant investments, being redeveloped in phases. The initial phase delivered 55 affordable homes and enhanced parks across five locations.
Phase two proposes an additional 39 homes for affordable social rent. This plan features both flats and houses, including one-bed flats, some on ground floors, along with two and three-bedroom houses. These will be constructed on four separate land spots.
Three of the land parcels are situated on Linton Grove, building on the north side of the estate. The fourth is located on Smith Crescent, in the southeast corner.
Currently, the four land areas accommodate 52 homes, which will soon be vacant. These houses are scheduled for demolition due to their deteriorated condition.
Made It Together emphasizes that the new homes are designed to be inclusive, catering to families, couples, and single individuals. They aim to address local housing needs.
The homes will be equipped with solar panels and heat pumps. Most houses will also feature gardens and parking.
The Field Lane estate originated in the post-war period, created to meet housing demands. Subsequent construction projects over the years expanded the estate further to accommodate growing needs. The project aligns with government building goals by delivering affordable housing.
