A software fault disrupted a Powys Council meeting, delaying a decision on the proposed closure of Ysgol Bro Cynllaith.

The council consulted people about the school closing last year. Most people strongly opposed the closure plan. Even so, officers still suggested closing it in August; they recommended pushing forward with the legal steps.
A councillor, Bryn Davies, spoke about the school. Technical problems then started happening suddenly. The translation system for Welsh went down unexpectedly, and Davies was asked to pause his speech.
They tried to fix it, but the issues continued still, and other councillors couldn’t understand him properly. The meeting chair decided to relocate everyone, moving to the chief executive’s office actually.
The meeting resumed after roughly half an hour. However, they had moved on to new topics. At the meeting’s end, the chair apologized to everyone, explaining that they hadn’t heard all contributions about the school.
They will continue the meeting later this week to conclude the school closure discussion. Other councillors already shared concerns earlier, worrying about pupils going to schools in England. Powys might even pay for that transport, too.
