Approval of large Lincolnshire solar projects sparks worries for an action group opposing a nearby farm.

The group opposes the Meridian Solar Farm plan. This farm would power 215,000 homes and would be near Cowbit, Whaplode Drove, and Holbeach Drove.
Ed Miliband approved two big Lincolnshire solar projects. One is Heckington Fen Solar Park, which is 524 hectares. The other is West Burton Solar Farm, covering 1,031 hectares.
Colin Davie called the decision a “slap in the face.” He works for Lincolnshire County Council, handling environment, economy, and planning.
The Meridian Action Group feels frustrated but still hopes the situation might help them. Lincolnshire already has many solar projects.
Helen Huyton, a group member, said Lincolnshire already exceeds net zero goals for 2030. More approved projects may lower chances for others
Huyton finds it concerning, even worrying, that good farmland is turning into solar farms. She believes there are better solutions like rooftops and brownfield sites, which are getting more attention.
