Bluebird Cafe marks its second year, inviting local groups to apply for grants to support community initiatives.

Bluebird marks its second year and is inviting groups to ask for funds. Andy Daintree and Ian Scott started Bluebird. People call Ian Scott “Scottie.”
They wanted a community café in Wedmore and also aimed to showcase local musicians. The bar is becoming known for its live music.
They now offer live music each Saturday. Regular comedy and quiz nights happen too, as well as music bingo and Sunday jazz afternoons. Clubs meet there regularly.
Next year, Bluebird starts a new contest for young performers aged sixteen to eighteen. Schools can nominate their music students. Local groups can apply for grants soon, from March 3 to April 18. Money will be given out on May 22.
Last year, money helped update a directory, which they delivered to all homes. The directory covered health and wellbeing information.
Andy says community is Bluebird’s focus, and they support the local community. Groups can meet there, and individuals can enjoy a friendly place. They offer coffee, cakes, lunch, drinks, and pizza.
Scottie says the community supports them and they want to give money back again. They seek groups to ask for donations.
