Supermarkets attempted to cushion the blow by raising prices by only 2.2p per liter. This applied to both petrol and diesel. Despite wholesale costs actually decreasing, pump prices remained high.
Supermarket fuel costs are the highest they’ve been since last January, primarily due to buying strategies and slow savings. They haven’t passed on savings quickly to consumers.
Here are fuel prices this February in South East London, specifically within a five-mile radius of each area.
In Bexley, Jet Bostall Hill prices are: petrol 135.9p, diesel 142.9p. Sainsbury’s Eltham has petrol at 135.9p, diesel at 143.9p. Morrisons Thamesmead sells petrol for 136.7p, diesel for 142.7p. Sainsbury’s Crayford charges 136.9p for petrol and 142.9p for diesel. Esso Eltham High Street prices are: petrol 136.9p and diesel 159.9p.
In Bromley, Sainsbury’s Eltham costs: petrol 135.9p, diesel 143.9p. Esso Eltham High Street sells petrol at 136.9p, diesel at 159.9p. Jet Well Hall Road has petrol at 136.9p, diesel at 145.9p. Tesco Lewisham sells petrol for 136.9p and diesel for 142.9p. Texaco Beckenham prices are: petrol 137.9p and diesel 145.9p.
In Greenwich, Asda Old Kent Road offers petrol at 134.7p and diesel at 140.7p. Asda Bethnal Green Vallance Road also has petrol at 134.7p and diesel at 140.7p.
