Council vows action on anti-social behavior and domestic abuse for housing tenants amidst performance concerns.

Only 49.7% were happy with anti-social behavior help. The council did a self-check, comprised of six standards; only one met the full requirement. Others only partially met standards, and some didn’t meet expectations at all.
Plans exist to improve these areas. The regulator will share the inspection results in July 2025.
A council member asked about the council’s level of toughness regarding anti-social behavior cases. Councilor Carter agrees their current approach isn’t tough enough. The council clearly recognizes this as an issue.
The council is working on implementing fixes, including creating a new role specifically to handle anti-social behavior issues. They are also building a better program too. Landlords have specific duties according to Councilor Carter.
Carter wants tenants to participate more actively. She emphasized previous work done by the officers, asking what actions are now needed and how the council should respond. Communication is key, she stressed.
Tenants who are filing complaints need regular updates. They should know the steps being taken, along with clear timeframes and possible outcomes. Councilor Carter says fixes are needed, and performance in these areas can improve, she believes.
