New store encourages clothing swaps, offering a sustainable way to refresh wardrobes.

Alice wanted a place for women to explore used clothing. There, they can also swap clothes they don’t want, which lets them update their style sustainably.
Alice started Swish It in 2022 as a clothes swap event in Salisbury. They have swapped over 2,500 clothes already and stopped a tonne of clothes from going to waste.
Before this shop, Alice was a visual merchandiser. She worked for Ralph Lauren, Zara, and French Connection.
The shop uses a Swish Card system where customers collect stamps. A £10 fee lets you swap three items, which earns you three stamps. You can use stamps for any clothing item.
Alice says bring unwanted clothes to her and swap them for something useful, instead of leaving them in your wardrobe. She thinks fast fashion hurts the environment and shoppers’ spending habits.
She says buying habits changed a lot. People buy things on impulse, and it’s easy to buy quickly without thought.
Last year, fashion’s emissions were high, topping air travel and shipping combined. Shops like Swish Shop fight this problem. They promote sustainable clothing use and make it appealing to customers.
Alice thinks pre-loved items offer chances for everyone to make a difference. People can do fantastic things. Alice loves her work very much and feels honored by the women who trust her to help them feel confident.
