Alice’s mom spoke about the Southport attack. She described losing her only daughter. The attack also killed Elsie and Bebe. The girls died at a dance class with a Taylor Swift theme on July 29 of last year.

Axel Rudakubana was sentenced for the murders and got a minimum of 52 years after pleading guilty at Liverpool Crown Court. Alice’s mom, Alex Aguiar, is 34 and honored her daughter in an interview, stating that Alice loved dancing very much and started ballet very young.

Alice began at Southport Dance Academy at age four. Heidi Liddle was her ballet teacher there. Heidi and Leanne Lucas supervised the class when the attacker entered the Hart Space. The location is on a small business estate, and the attack occurred on July 29, 2024.

Alice danced every Saturday, also participating in street dance and cheerleading at the YMCA. She also sang in her school choir and loved spending time with her parents. They did many things together on weekends, like visiting friends and eating out, and her mom said they were always happy.

The Southport community helped them greatly after the attack, after they lost Alice. Alex Aguiar is from Portugal originally but now considers Southport her home. People who didn’t know her offered help, and she didn’t expect so much kindness. She feels at home and doesn’t want to leave.

Alex focuses on legacy projects for Alice and will soon share information about them. These efforts will honor Alice’s memory and give her purpose. The community’s support inspires her, and she wants Alice to be remembered.
