A mother remembers her daughter, a victim in Southport, praising the community’s support after the tragic event.

Axel Rudakubana, 18, committed the murders. He also tried to kill ten other people. He was jailed for life last month and must serve at least 52 years.
Alice’s mom, Alex, spoke to the Liverpool Echo. She said she and her husband were always happy, and weekends meant time together at friend’s houses where they enjoyed meals as a family of three.
The family is from Portugal and moved to Southport in 2010. It is now their home, they said, and the community helps them with their grief as people show kindness and offer their assistance.
Alex remembers Alice starting ballet very young, joining Southport Dance Academy at age four. She also cheered and did street dance, in addition to singing in the school choir.
Alice liked her teacher, Heidi Liddle, and was upset when Heidi left for maternity leave. Heidi tried to protect the kids during the attack by locking them in a bathroom.
Elsie and Bebe’s parents spoke about their daughters, calling them “pure light” and “so brave.” Elsie’s parents started a charity in her name to make other children smile.
