JK Inkley, a popular clothing store in Spalding, will close as owners Andrew and Heather Inkley retire after 65 years.

Andrew enjoys buying and selling things, but says now is the right time to retire. He said it feels bittersweet for them, as they made many friends there, including customers and other local shopkeepers.
Andrew’s dad, Jim, started the business in 1960. The shop moved to Francis Street in 1965. Before that, it was on Red Lion Street for the first five years.
Andrew started working there in 1981 and learned the business after school. After decades of work, he is ready for retirement. They will keep living in the area, and he looks forward to more holidays now that Saturday work will be a thing of the past.
Many stores struggle now, but Inkley’s has been different. Customers visit from Yorkshire, Sussex and Suffolk. Andrew said family shops give good service, and Heather has worked at the store for 20 years, supporting a local charity.
They work hard for their customers always and sell great products regularly. Andrew clarified that they are having a retirement sale, as people thought they were closing down completely. The store will stay open until June, and is having a sale with 25% off.
