New signs installed in Spalding highlight the town’s history thanks to lottery funding and council initiatives.

The project is called Spalding Reconnected. It got funding from the National Lottery. They received over £233,000! The project celebrates Spalding’s history. Willow sculptures are already along the river. They also added riverbank habitats.
One sign is already up by Spalding’s riverbank. It’s all part of “wayfinding” in the town. The signs and their planning cost a lot. It was almost £67,000! The arts trail cost about £60,000. The overall strategy was around £22,000.
The council calls the signs a “pilot”. They want to put up even more. This will help people find their way around. One council member is very happy about this. He thinks they connect the past and present. He hopes for more investment soon.
Another sign is now near the Sheep Market toilets. It looks like that area also needed some help. The “wayfinding” part got the biggest chunk of money. They even spent money on a street map. That map cost around £6,800!
The signs use old pictures of Spalding. This will connect people to different places. They’re using history to guide us. A red sign is now at the Spalding Bus Station. These signs are going up everywhere.
You will see new signs all around town. Look for them at the train station. Also, try Hall Place and Bridge Street. The council hopes this project helps Spalding. They hope it attracts investment. Several groups are working on the project. Heritage Lincolnshire helps manage it all. Other groups help too.
