Campaigners and councillors advocate for safer roads by lowering speed limits in several Lincolnshire villages.

One road, Counter Drain Drove, might drop from 60mph to 30mph. This change would cover about 590 meters. Roads like Risegate Road and Fleet Road could also become 30mph zones. They are currently 40mph.
Martin Maddison, a local, wants lower speeds near his home. He says it’s too risky to walk his dog and a child was once hit by a car there. He thinks 30mph would be safer.
Councillor Jane King supports lower limits on Risegate Road. She notes speeding is a major issue and hopes lower limits will encourage slower driving. King also wanted a lower limit on a part of the A52, which was reduced to 50mph.
Councillor Paul Barnes also agrees with these speed limit changes. He believes the housing growth makes a 30mph limit suitable, as more kids walk to school now. Crossing the road at 40mph can be very unsafe, and education and speed watch teams will aid the changes. They will try enforcement if needed.
