Community mourns a ‘caring’ man who died in a St Albans house fire. Tributes include flowers and heartfelt messages.

Flowers now sit outside his home. Many people are sending heartfelt messages. Cathy knew him since he was very young. She remembered him caring for his grandma.
Cathy has lived there for over forty years. She was shocked by his death. She spoke to him on Monday morning. He showed her pictures of bad floorboards. He needed to fix them. It all happened so fast.
She was also shocked by all the emergency workers. They were all over Paxton Road and Watsons Walk. Neighbors gathered outside because of the fire. They often have street parties together.
Simone Parenti and Martina Muni live nearby. They recently moved from South London. They said he was nice and welcoming. He was the first person they met there. He offered toys for their son. He always asked how they were doing.
The couple called it a tragedy. Will Gale also lived nearby. He said the man was a “nice, pleasant guy.” He knew everyone on the street. Will lived across from the fire. He said they were all very close.
