Flooding caused damage last November, forcing the hall to close down. The council works with its insurance company and a loss adjuster on the claim.
Dehumidifiers are now running constantly. Between eight and ten machines work hard, lowering the hall’s moisture levels. The council keeps looking into the problem.
The council spoke on February 6, reporting that drying the space under the floor started well and moisture levels are going down. This is positive news for the hall.
They will keep drying the hall like this, with warm air going into the space below. It moves around, then exits through holes cut into the floor.
They will check the moisture for weeks and record levels in many hall areas. The floor’s condition is still a question, and they will talk to engineers soon.
Engineers will visit in the next week or so. They might need to remove more flooring to investigate things further, letting them see underneath.
