Worcestershire volunteers raise a record £61,890 recycling Christmas trees for St Richard’s Hospice.

One hundred ninety-seven volunteers helped out. They raised £61,890 for the hospice. This is the most they have ever raised, and it’s their ninth year doing this.
Ria Simons manages the fundraising for the hospice. She thanked everyone for their generosity and those who collected trees, despite the quite cold weather.
The money will help run the hospice this year. It costs about £12 million each year, with most funds coming from donations and events. This tree drive contributed significantly.
Many companies supported the tree campaign. Aptean, St Peters Garden Centre, and Leigh Sinton Christmas Trees all contributed. Businesses and groups also sent volunteers to assist with the tree collection.
Collections occurred on four days in January: January 10, 11, 19, and 20.
The hospice gives free care to adults who have incurable illnesses needing support. The hospice also supports their families and carers. Each year, they support over 3,100 people, including patients, their loved ones, and people who are grieving.
