Council plans homes on a garage site in Stamford, aiming to retain most of the public green space despite concerns.

The council seeks ways to build more homes. A photo shows the garages on Kesteven Road. If approved, they will remove the garages, and up to fourteen homes could be built there.
Construction will happen on hard ground plus part of the field, but most of the grass area will stay open for everyone.
Virginia Moran talked about the potential project. The council owns the garage site at Kesteven Road and are looking into building up to fourteen homes.
These parking spots are not used much. She said the council can build affordable housing there because people on the housing register need it.
The council needs reports for the application, including biodiversity, land design, and building plans. They first proposed this project in March of last year.
People worried about losing the green space then. Kids play there, and people walk dogs; the air ambulance also lands there.
Locals also feared more traffic on Kesteven Road. Building houses could cause this problem. Moran also said people can share their views later during the planning permission process.
