Torbay MP Steve Darling and guide dog Jennie visit Torquay Library, learns about activities and its community impact.

The library hosts a free breakfast every Tuesday. Darling met attendees, staff, and volunteers. He wanted to learn about library activities and the library’s impact.
They served fresh food like pastries and fruit, along with items such as cereal, porridge, and snack bars. Tea, coffee, and juice were also available.
Many attendees were regular breakfast visitors. A new visitor enjoyed the library and appreciated the staff’s kindness. They ate breakfast, borrowed books, and got a newspaper.
Staff said Darling listened well and supports libraries. He visited the library as a child, so he values it as a community space.
Torquay Library offers many services and is a Warm Space Champion hub. They have free coats and breakfasts. People can borrow blood pressure monitors and enjoy free children’s costume hire and daily events. A free computer buddy service exists.
The library will exchange World Book Day tokens. They have also been nominated for two national Library Awards.
